Langley City & The Township Of Langley
  All Roads Lead To Langley

Langley is located approximately 40 km (25 miles) from the City of Vancouver, in British Columbia ’ s southwestern lower mainland. The Canada/US border is conveniently accessed on Highway #13 (264 St.) in Aldergrove. Langley is easily accessed from both BC Ferry Terminals as well as the Vancouver and Abbotsford International Airport. Highways 1, 1A and 10 all lead you to our doorstep, too – so what are you waiting for?

The proximity to the Pacific Ocean and the protection of the nearby mountains contribute to Langley ’ s temperate climate that is enjoyed by visitor ’ s and residents. Langley has over 1, 200 hours of bright sunshine and nearly 200 frost-free days a year. The mild, wet winters have an average temperature of 2 degrees C (36.5 F) and only 10 snow days a year. Summers are dry, averaging temperatures of 17 degrees C (62.5 F).

Here, amid a pastoral landscape of horse ranches, berry field and dairy farms, one can escape from city life, experience British Columbia ’ s exciting history and plunge into a full range of outdoor activities. Yet one is never far from lively shopping and entertainment that serves 100,000 residents in a mix of distinct communities. Langley is composed of the Township of Langley (encompassing Fort Langley, Aldergrove, historic Murrayville, Walnut Grove, Brookswood and Willowbrook) and the City of Langley, founded in 1055. Both the Township and the City of Langley combine the appeal of rural living and big-city services, modern life and pioneer history in an environment that has seduced visitors for more than 175 years.

But it ’ s more than location and heritage that make Langley so popular. Many are drawn to the community ’ s famous equestrian environment that has earned the title of Canada ’ s Horse Capital.

If you ’ re attracted to horticulture, you can easily lose yourself for hours among Langley ’ s magnificent nurseries and rose and herb gardens. Seventy-five per cent of the Township is farmland and here you ’ ll find cottage-style nurseries to extensive heritage estates.

Langley is known for its parks, ranging from tidy pocket parks downtown to some of the largest and wildest regional parks in the province.

Throughout the year the community comes alive with events and festivals that offer something for everyone in your family. The annual May Day Celebrations, Aldergrove Festival Days, Langley Days and Canada Day Celebrations are organized by dozens of volunteers with your entertainment in mind. The internationally recognized Langley Good Times Cruise-In draws in excess of 100,000 visitors to our community to show off their cars or enjoy the memories that the displays bring back.

You ’ ll see that we are very proud of our heritage and are eager to share it with you. With its own distinct flavour and charm, Langley combines the best elements of rural and urban living.
